Our Story
The saying "necessity is the mother of invention" perfectly captures the origins of SCH (Supplies) Ltd.
In 1986, our late Managing Director, Andrew Rodwell, became frustrated by the lack of suitable lawn care attachments for his garden tractor. Rather than accept the limitations of the market, he designed and built the equipment he needed himself. What began as a practical solution soon attracted interest from friends facing the same problem, and from this simple idea, SCH was born.

The company's first brochure was a modest four-page black-and-white leaflet, reflecting the small scale of the business in its early days. Since then, SCH has grown significantly. Today, our 80-page full-colour brochure showcases an extensive range of products that has expanded far beyond its original lawn care attachments. Our portfolio now includes garden trailers, sprayers, water units, spreaders, broadcasters, leaf sweepers and a wide variety of specialist equipment.

As the business evolved, SCH successfully expanded into the sports and leisure sector, supplying high-quality equipment to gamekeepers, horse owners, sports facility managers and many other professional and domestic users.

Throughout our history, SCH has overcome significant challenges. We have weathered economic recessions and recovered from a devastating fire in 2005 that destroyed 95% of our stock. Despite these setbacks, the business's unwavering commitment to customer service ensured that orders continued to be fulfilled and customers remained supported.

In an increasingly competitive market dominated by mass-produced imports, SCH has stayed true to its founding principles. We continue to manufacture robust, ready-built equipment designed to provide years of reliable service. This commitment to quality has earned the trust of more than 2,000 dealers throughout the UK, a remarkable achievement considering the business began by supplying just a handful of local garden machinery dealers.

One of SCH's greatest strengths is its people. With exceptionally low staff turnover, we have retained decades of invaluable knowledge and experience. This continuity enables us to provide outstanding customer service while maintaining the high standards of craftsmanship synonymous with British manufacturing excellence.

In 2023, SCH entered an exciting new chapter under new ownership. While honouring the values and reputation established over nearly four decades, the new leadership has continued to invest in the business, its people and its products. Today, SCH is going from strength to strength, proudly building on its British manufacturing heritage while remaining committed to innovation, exceptional customer service, and the production of durable, dependable equipment that customers can rely on for years to come.

Unlike mass-produced imports, every SCH machine is built to order using top-grade materials and time-tested engineering. Being a close-knit team means we’re hands-on at every stage, from design and fabrication to testing and support. Our size is our strength—it allows us to stay flexible, offer custom-built solutions, and provide friendly, knowledgeable service that larger companies can’t match.
